The Medina 20 Class Association

Welcome to the homepage of the Medina 20 Class Association. The association is an enthusiastic group of boat owners who share a common interest in getting the best performance and greatest pleasure from the Hunter Medina 20, a superb small cruiser/racer. We share our experiences, tuning tips and ideas so that all members can benefit. Membership is open to all Medina 20 owners and offers the benefits of a quarterly newsletter, local owner groups, and access to project notes and the Association Handbook.

Designed by David Thomas for Hunter boats in 1979, the Medina 20 is a sporty lifting keel trailer-sailer, based on the designs of the highly successful Hunter Sonata. It combines excellent performance, ease of sailing and practicality, within a 20ft overall length. Compact 4-berth accommodation is provided in a single cabin.

With its light 860kg displacement and lifting keel the Medina is a breeze to launch and recover, while the low (keel up) 10" draft allows Medinas to reach those places other boats cannot go. With a high performance bendy mast, fractional rig and 140% deck-hugging genoa, the Medina is fantastic to windward and is capable of matching or beating many fast 27 footers. Flat after hull sections promote early surfing and Medinas can easily attain in excess of 10 knots under spinnaker downwind giving an exciting ride. For a full specification, see the PBO Test page. In the 'members-only' area there are project sheets, useful links and details of sources of spares; these are available only to members of the Association.

We hope you will find the site is interesting and provides useful information. If you require further details, or wish to join the Medina 20 Class Association, please e-mail the secretary at medina20@witherby.net
